This harness is a stand alone harness, so it runs the whole ignition system on it's own in addition to the computer to run the engine. All of the stock wiring gets removed, fuse boxes, dash wiring, etc.
This harness provides lead wires to power the ignition system (which also powers alt, trans, and the OBD2 port), and a starter wire to triggering the starter.
Requirements
- Derby modded computer (97-99 Camry 4cyl modded computer is required)
- Fuel pump hotwired
- Ignition powered (Red wire)
- Starter trigger (Green wire)
Fitment
- 1992-1995 Toyota Camry (4cyl) - Requires crank sensor updated, intake swap, and coils swapped
- 1996 Toyota Camry (4cyl) - Requires coils swapped over and intake swap
- 1997-1999 Toyota Camry (4cyl)
- 2000-2001 Toyota Camry (4cyl) - Requires throttle body swapped to have the IAC function and run correctly
- 1999 Toyota Solara (4cyl)
- 2000-2001 Toyota Solara (4cyl) - Requires throttle body swapped to have the IAC function and run correctly
This setup likely fits other Toyota 4cyl engines, but there hasn't been testing done to validate fitment and how close the factory tune in for the other engine (like a 4A-FE or 7A-FE Corolla).
Connectors
- ECU (Around 24 wires used) - 2 row 2 coil - 97-99 style
- 3x Splice connectors (these are what ties the wiring together)
- OBD2 - Standard OBD2 interface so you can view sensor data, check codes for diag, etc
- Crank Sensor - requires the 96-01 style crank sensor
- MAP Sensor
- Alt - Optional, zip tie out of the way if not using one, 93-01 style
- 4x Injectors - #1 is the side of the engine with the belt
- Intake Air Temp Sensor - Remove from air box and plug in, zip tie out of the way just to give the computer a reasonable value to use.
- TPS - Throttle Posistion Sensor - 97-01 style
- IAC - Idle Air Control - 97-99 style
- ECT - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor - Keep in factory location, the more accurate it can read the real temp, the better it runs, no limp mode tied to this signal.
- 2x Coils - Requres the 97-01 style coils
- Starter trigger - 95-01 style
- Trans Subharness - Optional - see below
Trans Subharness
If using an automatic transmission, this part can be swapped out to match the trans you're running. Normal hot wired to first is an option or the 122 trans harness style setup can be used. The connector does have a dedicated ground connection for transmissions that require a ground to function.
Major types are based mostly on the connector type for the shift solenoids, all of them use a 10 pin connector for the gear switch.
- 3 pin - Common in 4cyls and early v6's - non-vvt
- 6 pin - Common in Camry v6's - non-vvt
- 10 pin - VVT Sienna only
- 10 pin - Except Sienna - 1st gear is the only option currently, common design for VVT applications
